This course examines the relationships between food, energy balance, and nutritional status; the role of nutrition in health and disease while evaluating trends in nutrition. Students will learn about healthy eating, expand their repertoire of food preparation techniques and develop their research skills. |

This course offers a multidisciplinary approach to the study of human development throughout the life cycle. You will learn about a range of theories from the perspectives of developmental psychology, sociology and anthropology. You will examine threats to healthy development as well as protective factors that promote resilience. Additionally, you will learn how early brain development is linked to lifelong learning, health, and well-being. This a great course if you are considering careers in social work, teaching, youth work, early childhood education, and medicine. |

This course is a continuation of HSP3UI as it expands on Anthropological, Psychological and Sociological theories, perspectives, and methodologies required to investigate and to explain shifts in knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviour and their impact on Canadian society. Students will critically analyze how and why cultural, social, and behavioural patterns change over time, explore challenges such as technological change, deviance, and global inequalities.
